The Sephora Collection Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel is a hidden gem of a self tanner! The Sephora Collection products are really high quality and are inexpensive. Not a lot of people think they are great quality because they are the Sephora brand but wait until you hear about this review of the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel.

I have fair skin and wear an SPF of 30 every single day but I still want to look sun kissed. I am not into self tanners so usually wear bronzer.

As a new mom I decided that I want to have a healthy glow daily even if I don’t have time to do my makeup.

I recently purchased the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel because I read really good reviews on Sephora and it’s super affordable at $23 Canadian!

The Sephora Collection in general has stepped up their game and their products are made in France and the packaging can rival any luxury brand.

Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel Benefits

If you’re new to self tanning or just want a healthy glow you’ll really love the gradual self tanning face gel. The colour is really subtle that you do need a few applications to notice a difference.

The gel smells amazing – similar to a beach scent and is a very light gel versus a cream.

After one application, you may not even notice a difference so you may want to reapply it 3 hours after. You only need to apply the self tanning face gel 2x a week so that leaves for little maintenance. It also goes on really evenly and you don’t need to use a lot.

In my application I noticed that it didn’t make me streaky at all and it didn’t feel sticky.

95% of the ingredients in the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel are natural including Natural DHA to give your skin the healthy glow and Natural Origin Rose Floral Water which is supposed to soothe the skin.

Overall, the gel isn’t sticky and will give you a healthy and subtle glow.

Sephora Collection Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel vs. Self Tanning Water Mist

The difference between the Self Tanning Face Gel vs. Self Tanning Water mist is that with the mist, you can’t control how evenly you apply the self tanner. A lot of the reviews on Sephora said that with the Water Mist it gave off a really sparkly glow.

If you’re looking for more of a dewy look then you’ll want to choose the mist but if you want a soft and more gradual glow go with the Face Gel.

Overall, it depends on how you want to apply your self tanner. I am trusting of the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel vs. The mist because I prefer to use a gel like application.

Sephora Collection Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel vs. Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water

The Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water is a spray and costs $38 versus $23 for the Sephora Collection Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel.

The uniqueness of the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning water is that it comes in different colours to help correct colour pigmentation in the face. There is a drops and mousse version of the Isle of Paradise Self Tanner as well but in reading the reviews on Sephora, this TikTok viral product isn’t worth the hype.

Apparently the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water is very patchy and streaky since it is a mist. It’s harder to apply it evenly on the face. One reviewer also said it made her floors all sticky.

The Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel is not sticky at all. It applies so lightly that I was incredibly shocked how easy it was to apply!

For $22 I would skip the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water and stick with the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel.

Final Thoughts of the Sephora Collection Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel

I’m happy to recommend the Gradual Self Tanning Face Gel to those with fair to light skin. I don’t think those with darker skin will notice a distinct difference with this face gel because it is a very subtle glow. That being said, if you’re looking for a light self tanner that won’t leave you streaky and is affordable I would absolutely use the Gradual Self Tanning Gel.
