I bought the Natasha Denona Retro Palette ($87 at Sephora) just so I could provide you with some swatches and a full review!
The Natasha Denona Retro Palette is one of the best eyeshadow palettes for fall. If you’re looking for neutrals with some purples and vintage pinks you’ll definitely want to pick this up.
The Retro Palette is considered a “midi-sized” eyeshadow palette, so basically a medium sized palette. There is a mini size of the Retro Eyeshadow Palette which is very similar to the Natasha Denona Bloom Palette (I also own that).
Honestly, the size of the regular Retro Palette is so perfect because it isn’t too big and contains 15 full shades which is more than enough. The shades in this palette do not look like the stock photo, they are not as pink as you may think! The Retro palette is worth the money because all of the shades are wearable. This is one of the best Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palettes because these colours blend well and look great on most skin tones.
Natasha Denona Retro Palette Review
There is a mix of matte, shimmer and even a topper “psychedelic” to complete the entire vintage look of soft burgundy, taupe and soft pink.
I have to say, in person the palette is less pinky so don’t let the photos online fool you. If you were worried that the Retro Palette is too pink for your skin tone it’s just photographing pink in the online photos. Take a look at the photo I took of the Retro Palette in Natural light with my iPhone.
This eyeshadow palette is very similar to the Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I love that eyeshadow palette but I feel that the Natasha Denona Retro Palette is a grown up version of that. I thought it was time to invest in an eyeshadow palette that would last me a long time which is why I think $87 for the Retro Palette is worth it.
This eyeshadow palette is so easy to wear, it can take you from fall to spring. This is one eyeshadow palette that will last a long time because of the quality of the shadows.
In my opinion, the Natasha Denona Retro Eyeshadow Palette is the palette of the year.
Natasha Denona Retro Palette Swatches
If we have a look at the eyeshadow palette by row, starting from the top, you can see a mix of light neutral colours and shimmers. I love the shades “Mod” and “Vivienne” for inner corner and transition shades. “Glitz” is a beautiful pink shimmer that actually looks like the NARS Orgasm shade and the shade “Andy” and “Jude” are on the grey/purple shade range.
The second row of the Retro Palette is a bit bolder but you have “Pyschadellic” in the middle which is a pure topper on top of other colours.
The shades “Groove”, “Go-Go” and “Patty” are all in the burgundy family but can be put together to create one cohesive eye look.
The third and final row of the Natasha Denona Retro Palette are the deepest of the bunch but you have a taupe shade in there which is perfect for the transition shade. “Rebellion” is a unique burgundy that has shimmer in it which is perfect for a smokey eye for night and you have the best complimentary matte shade called “Amara”.
Natasha Denona Latest Eyeshadow Palettes 2021
Natasha has released a lot of other eyeshadow palettes in 2021 but nothing comes close to how universal the Retro Palette has shown. Honestly, the Retro Palette is the best eyeshadow palette from Natasha Denona to date. If you don’t believe me check out these other eyeshadow palettes that were released in 2021.
Why are Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palettes are so expensive?
Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palettes are so expensive because the formula is so easy to blend, buttery and high quality. The pigment lasts all day and the colours are so rich. Of course you can always find similar shades at the drugstore but the way these eyeshadows apply is what makes this eyeshadow palette so expensive and luxurious.
I’m telling you: if you buy one eyeshadow palette this fall let it be the Natasha Denona Retro Palette. You will not be disappointed with the shade range at all.
This doesn’t mean that Natasha Denona won’t release another eyeshadow palette for Christmas 2021 but this looks like it will be the main fall palette for 2021.
